Pre-IAC

I'm going to Spain tomorrow! This trip is paid for by NASA to go to the International Astronautical Conference in Valencia. For some reason they liked my abstract enough to select me as a funded student, so yaaaaaaaaaay NASA!

Then I'm going to Portugal for a mini vacation. :-)

I promise to take lots of pictures and fill you in when I get back.

A quick summary before Spain

I'm going to Spain and then Portugal for a conference and some travel time, and I'm leaving on Friday! I have a ton to do before then, and I'm sure I'll have lots of posts after, but I need to post about:
- my phone bad luck then good luck
- over-stressing and 60-65 hours/week at the office, yet this is grad school
- Waterfire in Providence (which was awesome)
- how good cheesecake is yet how I should not eat it
- how I'm still confused about what to do and that the MIT Career Office doesn't make looking for a job any easier

4.5!

So I did finally get to go running on Friday. :-) When I went running with V Sunday, he mentioned how he likes to push himself when running, but that's something I rarely do because I feel that even running at all is pushing myself. But since I had a long week and hadn't really worked out in 5 days, I decided I would push myself Friday. The most I had run since crew in high school was what I run pretty regularly - about 3 miles. But Friday I ran 4.6 miles! There were times when I wanted to stop, but I just kept going, and I made it all the way around my loop without walking. I'm really proud of myself!

I think I need to push myself to run my regular 3 mile loop faster, and when I have time, I'll do the 4.6 loop. It's funny that I enjoy running (as long as I can go my pace) now. I do think I need new shoes, though, and I need to keep up with my ankle strengthening exercises, because my ankles are often the thing that hurts the most.

Maybe some day I'll be Rebekah. ;-) Or Alan. Or Mike. Those crazy kids!

Late nights and too busy of a week

So I guess I should post about something other than my mom being funny, but I have just been sooooo busy lately. Normally I stay really busy with research and dancing and whatnot, but I've never really stayed in the lab for 12 hours straight or till 1 am or anything crazy ... until now. There is just too much going on with research presentations, conference paper and presentation deadlines, organizing a new team, getting a new fall intern here and settled, quals, classes, dancing, boys, and the list goes on.

I got interrupted earlier for a telecon, and now I'm at work waiting for a bunch of crap to print. I really should go home and go to bed so I can go and party with Liz for her birthday. And for Lindsay's birthday in spirit. ;-)

And I really want to go running tomorrow, so I think I'll skip happy hour for that. Who ever thought I would say I want to go running?? Crazy!

Some ponderings

It seems that there is so much going on right now that I don't even want to start a blog about it all - figuring out classes, do I want a PhD, am I going to take the quals in any case, orientation and me being the Aero/Astro chair of that, researching for and writing a conference paper, etc, etc. But since I'm going to church in a few minutes, I will instead ponder a few questions for myself which no one else will probably get.

Sometimes I don't understand me. Do I just like shopping? Do I not want to invest? Is just just for fun? Is there something missing that I'm trying to fill? I am confused ... or am I?
