Everyone wants to come to LA

Apparently LA is THE place to visit! I guess there could be 2 reasons for me not blogging a lot:
1) I don't feel like getting on the computer when I get home from work and don't want to blog from work
2) I just haven't had time because I've been hanging out with lots of new and old friend in sunny California!

So a little recap of who's visited:
(TJ = Thomas Jefferson - my high school; GT = Georgia Tech)
August - I moved here the 10th, and then my mom came for 10 days
September - Silverio (MIT) arrived for UCLA, Chris (TJ, GT), Scott (TJ), Nick (TJ, GT) arrived for CalTech, Sarah (MIT), Lindsay (TJ), Rebekah (GT)
October - Hannah (GT), the Ankleys (friends of my parents), Erika (MIT), Leo (TJ), Tom (TJ)
Next weekend - Frank (GT), for Bob's wedding

That's crazy cool. And if you're not on that list, get your butt out here! But maybe give me a few weeks rest first. ;-)

A great weekend

The weekend started off with a tough conversation with a nice guy, which I really felt bad about. Then the next day was full of errands and then salsa dancing! It was there that I found out that if you want to feel good about yourself, just go salsa dancing in Los Angeles. There are a lot of great dancers, so I'm not talking about beating everyone out on the dance floor. I can hold my own, but I'm not that great. I'm talking about the guys who tell you you're beautiful, compliment your dancing style and, almost most importantly, your dancing ability. Sometimes a guy like this can come off as a creep, but it didn't seem that way Friday, or maybe I just liked feeling good about myself. Maybe it's just the one club I went to (La Granada in Alhambra), but this happened multiple times, whereas in Boston, it was much more rare.

That night, I was awakened at 4:30 in the morning by the funniest drunk dial I have ever received. It was so hilarious and entertaining, that we spent over an hour talking in the middle of the morning. The next day, I had a great homemade brunch (if I do say so myself) with Dionne from Bible study, then tennis with Nick, before heading off to Hollywood to meet up with Rebekah. It was so good to see her again! I'm glad she got to come out here for a conference so we could hang out before the hectic-ness of her wedding. It was great to talk about old sorority and study abroad times. I kinda wish we could study abroad again. :-) After some yummy Italian, we went to Frederick's of Hollywood (I mean it's only fitting, we were in Hollywood!). Joking with the girls about crotchless panties and nipple holes made my night, haha.

The next day, we went to Venice Beach to see the crazy people, enjoy some sun, do some shopping, relax on the beach, and eat In 'N Out - and we succeeded in all of that, I am happy to report. We even saw a homeless Jesus that seemed to be dating Pamela Anderson... I have to say I am addicted to the sun already. Normally I get antsy when I don't workout, but now I'm also getting antsy when I don't get outside and get sun enough too!

Well, it was a great California weekend. :-)
